Barbara-Jane worked for many years in government organisations and charities supporting families facing a range of issues, before completing her master’s at Swansea and embarking on her career in law.

Now, Barbara-Jane works as a Solicitor in Cardiff, still striving to protect the most vulnerable in society access their rights, and specialising in the Court of Protection area of law.

Isabel was an award-winning student while at Swansea, picking up various accolades for her pro bono legal work, giving over 750 hours of her time to Swansea Law Clinic. For this work, she was selected to receive the Diana Award, which was established to continue Princess Diana’s legacy in regards to rewarding social and humanitarian work.

Isabel now works as a Solicitor for DPA Law, a prominent law firm with offices across South Wales.

"The teaching staff at Swansea were very helpful which made it much easier to handle assessment periods, and the lectures were engaging, informative and enjoyable. Studying a wide range of law topics assisted me in choosing the area which I would later take on long term.

After completing his studies at Swansea, Alex embarked on his legal career, and is currently working as a solicitor for Peter Lynn & Partners, a multi-site, Welsh legal firm.

Alex now specialises in commercial property law, in particular acquisitions, leasing and sales.

"I made a point of undertaking work experience and managed to secure various placements, including a mini-pupillage at a chambers specialising in family law, a placement in a legal department specialising in environmental law, and work experience at a private solicitors’ firm where I gained an understanding of conveyancing, personal injury and wills and probate.

I am grateful to the School for providing a professional but friendly environment in which to complete the 4 years of testing but rewarding study necessary to progress in my career."

Sam completed his undergraduate studies and his master’s at Swansea, before becoming a trainee solicitor, and is now a Legal Adviser to the Welsh Parliament.

Sam is an accredited practitioner who specialises in information law, public and constitutional law, and regularly advises Members of the Senedd and Party Groups in relation to data protection, legislative content and human rights law.

"From day one, my lecturers were passionate, encouraging, and enthusiastic and I enjoyed every second of it. After attending several career days at Swansea and doing some work experience, I decided I wanted to be a solicitor. Given that many of the lecturers had been or still were lawyers themselves, they supported me through the entire process.

I can honestly say that I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support I received at Swansea. I was given some amazing opportunities, lots of which I still speak about in job interviews today (doing work experience in Botswana will always be a highlight). My lecturers believed in me and gave me the push I needed to start my career and I will always be grateful for that."

After graduating from her LLM, Danielle has gone on to work for several solicitors firms, specialising in several areas relating to commercial law, including banking and finance.

Danielle now works for EE, the second-largest mobile network operator in the UK, as a solicitor in their Commercial Contracts Team.

Since graduating, Sophie has gone on to forge a prominent legal career, now working as the Director of Swansea-based law firm, JCP.

Sophie now leads a team who provide services to a major high street bank and other lenders, recovering lending from companies and individuals throughout England and Wales.
