#MentalHealthAwarenessWeek

For the last 100 years, research at Swansea University has been making a difference. As we look now to the next century of Swansea University, it is clear that research is a crucial component in delivering significant, sustained, and valuable societal impact and ultimately, transforming lives.

And transforming lives is at the heart of the research being conducted today.

Professor Ann John

Professor Ann John and her team of researchers within the School of Medicine are exploring the world of mental health in young people by using data science to understand suicidal behavior and translating that research into real-life policy. This research focuses on suicide and self-harm prevention, as well as the risks and life course outcomes of children and young adults’ mental health.

“It feels like we can make a difference, every bit as important in a very different way as my days in direct clinical care...”
