Supporting you to success:

Swansea is known as an inclusive and welcoming city with a melting pot of cultures, religions and ethnicities contributing to the city’s vibrant culture. The University mirrors this dedication to proving a nourishing environment for all, including the refugee and asylum seeker population.

City of Sanctuary

In May 2010, Swansea became the second official City of Sanctuary within the UK, signing up to the national movement committed to building a culture of hospitality for those seeking sanctuary from war and persecution.

As well as encouraging local businesses and organisations to welcome people seeking sanctuaries into their activities, City of Sanctuary also runs the Better Welcome to Swansea mentorship scheme. Volunteers promote integration into the community, building confidence and reducing isolation.
