Centenary Statement
2020 was supposed to be the year that Swansea University celebrated its centenary. However, the extraordinary and devasting effects of the pandemic across the globe, have rightly taken precedent instead this year.
Since opening our doors 100 years ago we have innovated, collaborated and grown into a dual campus, world class institution which serves its community, educates its people, tackles global problems and provides a home for many. Our achievements have impacted the world in many ways, and we are extremely proud to have reached this significant milestone in our rich history. We have now taken the difficult decision to postpone all physical centenary events in 2020. While we are disappointed not to be celebrating in person with you, we’d like to invite you to join us on Sunday 19th of July 2020 to commemorate the beginnings of this truly remarkable learning community.

Supporting Swansea
As we begin our second century, we look back on the impact your donations have made with extreme gratitude. Together, we have made huge leaps in medical research, created a caring and supportive environment for our students, equipped our laboratories with cutting edge apparatus, established a world leading student experience and much, much more. While acknowledging this period of celebration and reflection, our University remains fully focussed on innovating, educating, and inspiring its people for the next century and beyond. We have great aspirations, and the continued support of the Swansea family, both individually and collectively, will play a crucial role in helping us achieve them.
There has never been a more exciting time to support your University. Thank you, and we look forward to a bright and successful future together.
