Research Synopsis
Taking the names of inmates, I hope to recreate their lives leading up to, whilst attending and after becoming patients at Vernon House, Briton Ferry’s insane asylum between 1850 and 1900. The PhD consists of a creative writing reconstruction that is historically accurate and an academic piece of writing on the asylum and conditions.
