Situated in the vibrant city of Montreal in Quebec, with Montreal being voted the best student city in North America you know that you’re in for a great time. Bilingualism is an important part of Montreal’s character however it is easy for English speakers to navigate. Montreal experiences 4 distinct seasons with average highs 26° Celsius in the summer and lows of -5° Celsius in the winter. Concordia itself is amongst Canada’s top 25 research universities and boasts small class sizes with award winning professors. 

It will not be possible to complete a year abroad at this University if you have any assessments, such as supplementary or deferred exams, during the August assessment period at Swansea University.

Who can study here?

Swansea has a ‘university-wide’ partnership with this university which means that it is open to all subject areas except for American Studies, Media Studies, Criminology, Social Policy, Politics & IR, Philosophy, Law, Sports and Exercise Science, Maths, Biosciences or Psychology.
Spaces are not guaranteed, can be limited and all students on a semester/year abroad programme are subject to a university-wide, competitive selection process.

Important information

ACADEMIC YEAR: Runs from September to May. 

COSTS: The cost of living in Concordia will vary depending on the type of accommodation and meal plan you select. Concordia estimate the average costs for a student on their cost of living webpage. 

VISA:  You will need a Study Permit and will be required to provide financial evidence of at least CAN$20,635 (subject to change). The Study Permit application fee is approx. CAN$150. Your host university will provide you with more information about the application process. You must allow enough time to complete the study permit application and for your study permit to be processed and sent to you. There can be significant delays so please do not leave this until the last minute as you cannot travel to Canada without it.

ACCOMMODATION: Spaces in university residences is limited and not guaranteed. The accommodation application is released after you have been accepted.  

HEALTH INSURANCE: You will be required to purchase mandatory health insurance for your time at Concordia. ALL exchange students are required to purchase the Concordia Health Insurance Plan
