Beijing Foreign Studies University, usually referred to as BFSU, is a renowned and prestigious specialist research university located in China's capital which is home to a massive 21.5 million people! The landscape will be a stark contrast to what you are used to in Wales - there are only three hills to be found in the city. Prepare yourself for hot, humid summers and cold, dry winters. The University itself has 23 schools and departments, and is split across two campuses (East and West). On campus accommodation is arranged as part of the study abroad application process.
It will not be possible to complete a year abroad at this University if you have any assessments, such as supplementary or deferred exams, during the August assessment period at Swansea University.

Important information
COSTS: The cost of living in Beijing will vary depending on the type of accommodation and meal plan you select. For visa purposes, you will be required to provide financial evidence for a specific amount. Further details are below.
VISA: You will need a long-term study visa. Your host university will provide you with more information about the application process. You must allow enough time to complete the visa application and for your visa to be sent to you. There can be significant delays so please do not leave this until the last minute as you cannot travel to China without it.
ACCOMMODATION: All exchange students are guaranteed housing in on-campus dormitories but, it is limited so ensure that you submit your application by the deadline.
HEALTH INSURANCE: All international students who study at BFSU for one semester or longer must purchase Comprehensive Insurance for Foreigners Staying in China (including Medical Insurance for Accidental Injury, Hospitalisation and Medical Insurance). The Insurance can only be purchased from the assigned Insurance Company. The insurance can be purchased prior to the entry to China.
