Swansea University... Where Global Futures Begin
As a Physics student at Swansea University, you have the option of considering a year or semester abroad.
For those on a BSc Physics programme variant, you may be able to transfer from your three year degree scheme onto a four-year course which includes a year abroad. You will usually need to start thinking about this during your first year and then come along to Study Abroad talks at the start of your second year, where we will tell you what you need to do next, then you go abroad in your third year. You may already be on a four-year course which includes a year abroad.
For those on the MPhys programme, you have the opportunity to spend a semester abroad at the University of Houston, USA in the first semester of your third year. Please note that availability can vary on an annual basis, as the University of Houston is a University-wide partner and therefore places cannot be guaranteed.
Below you can view a list of available year abroad options for students going abroad in 2024/25. This list can change annually so please be prepared to be flexible!
Enrolment on a programme with a semester/year abroad does not guarantee you a semester/year abroad placement. Spaces are limited and subject to a competitive selection process. In the event you do not secure a semester/year abroad placement, you will be transferred to the standard variant of your degree scheme without a semester or year abroad. You will need to meet a minimum academic threshold in order to participate in a semester or year abroad programme. Available destinations may be limited by external factors, such as travel restrictions and capacity at partner universities. Associated costs of the semester/year abroad (such as travel, visas, host university charges and cost of living abroad in the host country) will vary. Funding may be available.
