This week-long intensive and digitally-powered global experience garnered from an international law firm, ZFZ LLP, provided me with an opportunity to gain practical knowledge from experts in international arbitration and maritime practice. I found it rewarding to have shadowed lawyers and collaborated with interns from other climes and institutions in preparing an article and peer-reviewing another on topical issues hosted on the firm’s blog.
As an added advantage, hands-on knowledge of the American Legal System and European Union law via presentations from associates and partners in the firm, follow-on assessments and feedback on assessments provided an edge in the training offered at the Institute of International Shipping and Trade Law. The art of public speaking was the highlight of the programme where both I and other interns made presentations on commercially relevant topics before over 40 solicitors, including senior counsel and partners. Thanks to the reputation of the IISTL which attracted this opportunity to hone the skills and knowledge acquired during my LLM programme.
