The University’s partnership with Santander provides rich and varied funding opportunities for students, employers and staff.
Santander has been supporting Swansea Employability Academy since 2014 with funding for internships to help cover the costs of a student or recent graduate’s salary. Dozens of employers have benefited from this funding which is embedded within the Employability Academy programmes. This is currently distributed through Employment Zone digital jobs board and employers can apply directly by emailing employmentzone@swansea.ac.uk
Thanks to funding from Santander Universities, Swansea Employability Academy is able to offer an Employability Skills Programme in partnership with #entrylevelboss. The programme has seen many applicants and each year 12 are selected to participate.
“It has been an amazing experience I will never forget, and I am so grateful for all that I've learnt. Sally as well as Alexa were amazing, keeping a positive and welcome atmosphere that was also supportive. Their advice helped me a lot in discovering what I would like to do, but most importantly they encouraged me to get up and just do it.” Victoria, BA Media and Communication
Funding from Santander Universities has been confirmed until 22/23 academic year.
Our excellent relationship with Santander lead to Swansea University being awarded an additional £20k funding in the 2021/22 academic year. The funds were distributed amongst students for their self-development. Alongside the Enterprise team and Student Union we developed the Student CPD500 fund, which opened for applications, offering up-to £500 funding for CPD and professional courses that student wish to take alongside their university studies. In total, 40 students received funding for a range of diverse courses, including flight academies, language training and programming courses.
Santander also run their own bespoke student engagement and skills programmes throughout the year for students and recent graduates. These are promoted through our Employment Zone digital jobs board.
