Swansea has amazing bays and beaches. It is very close to the Gower Peninsula with even more amazing beaches and bays (Oxwich, Three Cliffs, and Rhossili). The latter, at one point, made the Top 10 of world beaches according to Trip Advisor, as we all know, a solid, peer-reviewed source.
If you have time, a visit to Mumbles is recommended. You can reach it by bus or by taxi. From Mumbles, you can access the coastal path. It’s quite honestly an amazing scenic walk that can take you to Langland Bay and beyond.
Swansea Bay itself is also worth a stroll. It’s approximately a 5-mile walk (or run if you are adventurous) along the coast from Swansea to Mumbles.
If poetry is your thing, you can visit the house of Dylan Thomas as well as parks (Cwmdonkin Park) and pubs (Uplands Tavern) where he was a regular.
In town, the Glyn Vivian Art Gallery is worth a visit and it’s free. The area of the Marina is also lovely, which can be explored after our first conference dinner.
