Helen's principal research interests relate to issues of a normative and structural nature in international human rights law, notably, issues of minority protection, self-determination and the interplay between global, regional and national human rights regimes in the formation and implementation of human rights norms. Recent research projects include one on legal pluralism and international human rights law and a second on human rights in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Helen’s research has been published in leading journals such as the Oxford Journal of Legal Studies, Harvard Human Rights Journal, the International and Comparative Law Quarterly, and the British Yearbook of International Law.
