About
Currently, I serve as the senior Technology Transfer Officer for the Materials Characterisation department at the Steel and Metals Institute at Swansea University. In this role, I oversee work requests for the materials characterisation laboratory, ensuring impeccable service for Institute customers. Moreover, I am entrusted with maintaining the Research Development and Innovation equipment across the characterisation department. This role has equipped me with practical and organisational skills, the ability to manage competing demands, and a deep understanding of safe working practices. I excel in applying scientific reasoning to industrial scenarios, effectively communicating technical data both in writing and orally, and rapidly resolving technical challenges.
Drawing from nearly a decade of experience with multiple SEMs at the university, I possess extensive knowledge in microstructure imaging and conducting automatic inclusion analysis of Steels, EDS, and EBSD.
I am responsible for chemical waste disposal in accordance with university policies. Taking great pride in the health and safety culture at the Steels and Metals Institute and in being part of the health and safety committee which meets once a month. The lab has gradually and continually improved its health and safety performance through a good understanding of the risk profile of equipment and the development of a positive health and safety culture.
Looking ahead, I am excited to continue contributing to innovative research and development projects, further enhancing our capabilities in materials characterisation and fostering a safe and productive working environment.
