After completing her MA in India, Payal completed her MSc in Psychology from the University of Sunderland followed by a PhD from UWTSD Swansea. Her PhD focused on exploring the stress and coping mechanisms of parents caring for children with developmental disabilities and developing a brief self-help coping intervention. She has presented the findings of her doctoral study in conferences including the BPS 4th Annual Conference of The Welsh Branch of The British Psychological Society (2015) and the Division of Health Psychology Annual Conference (2015).
Payal currently teaches on the Osteopathy, Paramedics, EMT and Healthcare Science programmes. Her research interests are broad and include development of brief self-help psychological interventions, the lived experiences of stress and coping in health professionals, the psychological effects of chronic pain, and the experience of ethnic minority professionals in health and education amongst others.
