Rowena is a senior research officer in the Medical School and is part of the Health Data Research UK team working with the Secure Anonymised Information Data Linkage (SAIL) databank here at Swansea University. Her main research activities are focused on better understanding multiple morbid conditions diagnosed within the Welsh resident population.
Rowena has been conducting mathematical analysis using health and social care data for almost two decades. She started out in the public sector working with homelessness information systems and then local authority children’s social services as well as the care and social services inspectorate in early career roles and then moved to the NHS working with the Welsh Cancer Registry data to carry out research along side official statistics. Later roles have been focused on using big data and using methods applicable to secondary uses of administrative data.
