About
Dr Vasiliki Kravvariti is a Senior Lecturer in forensic psychology. She joined Swansea University in September 2024. Before that she had held posts in De Montford University, Coventry University, The University of Chichester, where she was the course director for the BSc in Criminology and Forensic Psychology, Nottingham Trent University, University of Derby and The University of Nottingham where she is still delivering, as a guest speaker, 2-3 guest lectures per year on several topics for the MSC in Forensic and Criminological Psychology.
During the last year 3 years, she is assisting in psychological reports submitted to social services and the courts. The instructions were to carry out risk assessments (pre- and post-intervention) on the clients in relation to self-harm and/or sexual, physical, and psychological harm to others. This involved evaluating the balance between risk and protective factors. Both categories were split into Static factors that cannot change (e.g., childhood victimisation) and Dynamic factors that can change with intervention (e.g., alcohol and/or drug use). These activities are helping her to prepare for training as an HCPC forensic psychology practitioner.
Her main research interests focus on family violence (male vs female) and child maltreatment. During the last few years, her research interests have also focused on Sex Offences, Child Sexual Abuse & Exploitation, assessment and treatment of people with sexual convictions, rape as well as prediction and prevention of child abuse. Other research interests are mental disorders in forensic settings and investigating suicide. Much of her work involves engagement with external agencies and services, including prison, probation services, the police, and other agencies.
