Travelteer Nepal 2 weeks

Travelteer is at the forefront of responsible travel and ethical volunteering. Having seen first-hand the positive impact that volunteering can have on local communities, the organisation has created a variety of charitable programmes that utilise volunteer skill sets to make a real difference. Their philosophy blends awe-inspiring adventure with high impact volunteering while maintaining a safe, social environment. The projects all support Travelteer Impact (their Charity), where 100% of student fund raising goes directly to the projects in Sri Lanka and Nepal.

Travelteer runs the following programme based in Nepal:

In addition to the programme costs, all participants are required to fund raise a minimum of £75 per week they volunteer. The money raised enables Travelteer to buy equipment and develop the programmes further. 100% of the money raised goes directly to the programme that you volunteer in. In-county programme training is given at the start of the programme.

Costs and Funding

Estimated cost to student: Approximately £550 per student or Approximately £250 per WP eligible student

This is based on an overall estimated cost of £1775:

Programme cost for 2 weeks: £575 which includes:
- non-refundable deposit
- accommodation
- transport between selected projects
- 3 meals a day excluding weekends
Estimated additional costs: £1,200 which includes:
- assumed flight cost - £1,050
- visa cost - approx. £40
- in-country airport transfers - approx £90
- DBS check - approx £18 if applicable depending on chosen programme
- You may incur additional costs not listed above

Estimated additional costs were sourced in November 2023 and may decrease/increase. Students may need to pay additional costs which are not outlined above. All of the above figures are estimates and are subject to change.

£1,225 per student or £1,525 per WP eligible student

A maximum of 5 bursaries are available for this programme

Additional information

If you fail to participate in the entire programme, you will be required to return any funding received and will be responsible for repaying the Travelteer programme cost to Swansea University.
The 2 week programme cannot include the Travelteer optional Tour.
Funding is not available for the optional Tour
If you are granted funding, the programme cost of £406 will be paid from your allocated funding direct to Travelteer. You will receive the remaining balance of your total funding awarded at the start of the programme once arrival in Nepal has been confirmed by Travelteer. It is important that you factor this into your budgeting.

Eligibility

Students must be enrolled at Swansea University
Students cannot be in the final year of study
Postgraduate students can apply for funding but must provide evidence that their academic supervisor approves of their participation.

Widening Participation Criteria

annual household income of £25,000 or less (rising to £30,000 for Go Global bursaries)
students receiving Universal Credit or income-related benefits (for Taith and Turing only)
care leavers and care experienced students
care givers (excludes Taith)
estranged students.
refugees and asylum seekers.
first international or professional experience (for Santander only)
