How would you like to win prizes for looking after your wellbeing, making sustainable choices and helping to tackle the climate emergency?

As a university, we’re committed to reducing our impact on the environment and we want to reward staff and students that help us achieve our goals. That’s why we’ve re-launched our current SWell programme to both staff and students to make an even bigger impact and to achieve commitments made in our Sustainability & Climate Emergency Strategy.

Events, Activities and Volunteering

We organise various events and activities throughout the year for students and staff to get involved with. These range from beach cleans, weekly conservation volunteer sessions, led bike rides, workshops, nature walks and growing food on campus, to name but a few!

Students and staff can find out what's going on by visiting our Eventbrite page for more information and to book onto events. Students and staff can also join our Crymlyn Burrows Conservation Volunteering group on WhatsApp.

Beach Cleans

Looking for a breath of fresh air, light exercise, and a chance to make a real difference? Come along to our monthly beach clean and help us keep Crymlyn Burrows special! This unique nature reserve, right next to Bay Campus, is of national importance for its diverse wildlife. Unfortunately, litter washes up with every tide, and without our help, it stays there indefinitely.

Beach cleans are not just about tidying up—they’re a great way to appreciate this beautiful environment, unwind in the fresh air, and leave the area better than you found it.

Tyfu Tawe and Growing Projects

Tyfu Tawe, our student and staff gardening project has raised beds on both campuses for growing vegetables and herbs. As well as teaching gardening skills and giving the chance to meet likeminded people, the produce grown is donated to our termly Community Fridge events.

Monthly, accessible, lunchtime induction sessions are held throughout the year and are open to all, meeting at 1pm on the second Tuesday of each month at Singleton Campus between Horton and Penmaen, and on the second Thursday of the month at the raised beds next to Y Twyni at Bay Campus.
