Our stall gained a huge number of visitors, all ranging from academia, local businesses and schools, to larger scale contacts such as NRW and Swansea Council.
Tuesday 19th November marked the annual Green Economy Conference in Swansea Arena. We were delighted to have been invited to partner with 4TheRegion and Swansea Council for this event, which brought together companies, innovators, schools, universities and local businesses, to discuss the changes we can collectively make to achieve a greener future.
The opening session gave a good insight into what the day would entail – we heard from other sponsors, including 4TheRegion and City Energy. Our own representative, Professor Dan Eastwood, gave an insightful talk into the Green Economy, and discussed how the new Green Economy Centre will be hugely beneficial to the issues at hand.
Dan said “The conference was a great success and it was exciting to be a partner in a meeting with such a positive atmosphere. Getting buy in from all parts of the community is so important when we think of greener futures and I think that was a particular success of the conference.”
Our stall gained a huge number of visitors, ranging from academia, local businesses and schools, to larger scale contacts such as NRW and Swansea Council. Our project lead, Dr Farooq Shah, said “We were pleased to be able to contribute as a partner at this year’s conference. We gained beneficial insight into a variety of sectors within our local community, and with that we had some really productive conversations, building some worthwhile contacts that will grow into valuable working synergies.”
We even had a visit from the children of Ysgol Pen Rhos, who gave an enthusiastic and thought-provoking talk in the morning session about their ‘Classroom Climate’ and how they are working to tackle their eco footprint. It was inspirational to hear how the next generation is already understanding the impact they can have, and what they are able to do to further that impact.
We’d just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended the event and to those who came to our stall to say hello and find out a bit more about what we do - we’re excited to see what everyone achieves before next year’s conference!
