The CORE team

The CORE (Computer Science Research Energies) group, established in 2021, serves as a dynamic hub for Early Career Researchers (ECRs) and others at Swansea University, concentrating on enhancing grant writing skills. To facilitate substantial advancements in their respective applications, CORE conducts specialized workshops focusing on critical aspects of funding proposals, including the development of a compelling vision, strategic approach, and a research-oriented CV.

Moreover, CORE is renowned for its annual grant writing retreats. These retreats offer a unique opportunity for colleagues to step away from daily disruptions and immerse themselves in the grant writing process. This dedicated environment fosters the cultivation of grant proposals, leading to numerous submissions to UKRI and benefiting a wide array of faculty members.

In addition to these initiatives, CORE orchestrates a variety of activities, such as meticulously planned seminars. These sessions are not only recorded but also made accessible on the Canvas computer science hub, promoting the dissemination of knowledge. The seminars extend beyond research presentations to address internal challenges at Swansea, offering insights into the REF process and guidance on articulating a 100-word research contribution in RIS.
