In 2015, Lincoln’s Inn established a prize for students about to begin their last year of a qualifying law degree in non-Russell Group universities. The Neuberger Prize aims to identify students who are of proven excellence and give them the opportunity to integrate with the Inn during the final year of their qualifying law degree.
Each year, Lincoln’s Inn select up to five recipients, who have been nominated by their university, and award them a prize of £1000 and free student membership. Winners are also given the opportunity to network with members of the Inn and its staff.
Amongst this year’s winners is final year Swansea University law student Mari Watkins.
Mari is an active student participant in the law school, having delivered sessions on mooting at university open days and worked as a student ambassador. Earlier this year, she was recognised for her advocacy skills when she was named runner up in the National Accident Helpline’s Future Legal Mind Essay Writing Competition.
Speaking about her win, Mari said:
“I am elated to be one of the recipients of such a prestigious award, and as an aspiring barrister, it is an honour to be recognised by The Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn.
“I am hopeful for where the future takes me!"
