The School of Management was honoured to host a visit by His Excellency Dr Emmanuel Mallia, High Commissioner of the Republic of Malta to the UK, on Thursday 15th June.
The High Commissioner's visit marked the final day of a three-day mission to Wales, which featured a meeting with First Minster Mark Drakeford at the Senedd. It also celebrated the launch of the Wales Malta Initiative, which is seeking to promote collaborations and partnerships between the nations, and to highlight the inaugural Wales Week in Malta, which will be held in March 2024.
The High Commissioner was welcomed by Professor Judith Lamie, Pro-Vice Chancellor for International Engagement, before a series of presentations by Professorial colleagues on a variety of research themes. Professor Paul Jones, Head of School of Management, then chaired a discussion on areas for potential interaction between Swansea University and academics, businesses and organisations in Malta.
Dr Alan Sandry (School of Management), who coordinated the event, commented: "the High Commissioner and his delegation were very impressed with the facilities at the Bay Campus, and by the breadth of the ground-breaking research projects currently undertaken by colleagues. The High Commissioner is keen to play his part in encouraging and fostering Swansea University-Malta relationships and engagements in the months and years ahead."
