Happy International Women's Day!

This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the remarkable achievements of Swansea University’s female sporting alumni—athletes who have not only excelled in their respective sports but have also built successful careers beyond the field. Their dedication, resilience, and passion continue to inspire the next generation of students.

We caught up with some of these outstanding women to hear about their journeys since graduating from Swansea University.

Megan Fisher – Rugby

“Since I’ve left Swansea University, I got into medical school at Liverpool University and have signed with the Sale Sharks Rugby team. While a pre-season injury kept me out for this season, I am looking forward to my first senior XV season with the army and a good pre-season with the Sharks!”
Megan Fisher, former Swansea University Women’s Rugby player and Sports Scholar.

Harriet Barker – Hockey

" Since finishing my undergraduate at Swansea University, I am now working within the sports sector with experience in multiple different National Governing Bodies and I am currently the National Manager for Club and Community Development for England Handball.

Within sport, I have gone on to play in the Womens Premier division of the England Hockey League with Swansea Hockey Club, and I have been to five European club competitions”
Harriet Barker, former Swansea University Women’s Hockey player and Sports Scholar.

Eire Rowland-Evans – Bobsleigh, Skeleton

“Since leaving Swansea University, I’ve gone on to represent my nations (Ireland) in the winter sport, Skeleton. I currently hold 10 National Records, and this year I was the first ever Irish Skeleton athlete to compete at a Junior European and Junior World Championships.

It is my dream to represent Ireland at the Winter Olympics and I am looking for sponsors to help me achieve this goal”
Eire Rowland-Evans, former Bobsleigh Sports Scholar.

These exceptional women continue to break barriers and pave the way for future female athletes at Swansea University. Their determination and success embody the spirit of Swansea sport, and we are incredibly proud to honour them this International Women’s Day.

We look forward to following their journeys and celebrating even more achievements in the future!
