Why did you choose to study at Swansea University? 

As someone with a medical background eager to improve in healthcare through genomics in my home country, I found Swansea University's program to be a perfect fit. It promises to not only enhance genomic knowledge for healthcare professionals but also bolster academic prowess through free academic support and supplemental classes that hone essential skills like academic writing. This holistic approach to education is what drew me to Swansea University, knowing it would equip me with the tools to excel both in my studies and in the field. 

Can you tell us about your course and what you enjoy the most? 

Pursuing my Masters in Genomic Medicine has been an intellectually stimulating experience The classes are a blend of interactivity and innovation, with lecturers who are not just educators but also mentors. What I find most rewarding is the approachability and kindness of our lecturers. They are always ready to assist, making the learning process both supportive and enjoyable. Their eagerness to help us understand complex genomic concepts truly enhances my educational journey. One of the highlights of my master’s course is the opportunity to learn directly from experts in the field. The guest lecturers bring a wealth of knowledge and present intriguing current research that is at the forefront of genomic medicine.

What are your three favourite things about Swansea? 

For me personally, Swansea's charm lies in – the serene beach right next to the university, offering a tranquil escape from academic rigour, the joy of a global friendship circle, and vibrant festivals featuring music, theatre, arts and delicious cuisine. 

Would you recommend Swansea University to other international students? 

Definitely, what I treasure most about Swansea is the robust support network available through its professional and personal support classes. These classes have sharpened my skills in academic writing and research, and the lecturers have been a guiding force throughout my journey. The university also excels in informing and sending invites to many opportunities for personal and professional development, with its career fairs, seminars, and conferences that keep us connected to the latest industry trends. Swansea University is truly a launchpad for the ambitious, providing a platform for students to excel, lead, and realise their full potential in a globally competitive landscape.
