About The Role

We have 2 full-time positions available for a 12 month Fixed Term contract.

 

To achieve its sustainable top 30 ambition, Swansea University needs a professional services workforce with the differentiated skills necessary to ensure excellence through efficient and effective systems and processes that harness technological innovations.

 

The UKSeRP (UK Secure Research Platform) is a technology set developed by the Population Data Science group at Swansea University Medical School. Swansea University works with organisations in the UK and globally to pool knowledge and experience around the platform to facilitate the storage and secure access to research datasets to assist research activity.

 

Following the success of the SAIL databank, the infrastructure used to provide it was identified as suitable to host datasets for other research groups within Swansea. Following interest from organisations in Australia and Canada, implementation exists in 2 locations outside the UK.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Work as a member of the Innovation Team to deliver strategic projects, supporting our migration to Kubernetes.
  • Gain deeper experience in GitOps deployment strategies.
  • Work with senior team members to design, build, and deploy CI/CD pipelines to facilitate the work of our development team.
  • Have the opportunity to learn and use many cutting-edge technologies as we explore their adoption.
  • Use your knowledge of Python to implement and refactor Airflow DAGs to handle the data lifecycle within UKSeRP.

Welsh Language Skills

The Welsh language level required for this role is Level 1 - A little. The role holder will be able to pronounce Welsh words, answer the phone in Welsh (good morning/afternoon) and use very basic everyday words and phrases (thank you, please etc.). Level 1 can be reached by completing a 1 hour course.
