About The Role

We are looking for a motivated candidate to lead the Organic Photovoltaics (OPV) related research activities within the group. The work will be focusing on the development of the processing, scale up  and large-area manufacturing of organic photovoltaics (balancing OPV efficiency, stability, green manufacturing and cost)

The work will include fabrication of industrially-viable and stable large-area OPV devices following the inputs in materials and device architecture from other members of the ATIP consortium. The main task will consist in developing processes and instrumentation for roll-to-roll manufacturing of long-lived OPV modules on flexible substrates.

ATIP is a £6M Program Grant funded by EPSRC and led by Swansea University, in close collaboration with Imperial College London and Oxford University,. The research is closely supported by 12 key industrial partners. The main objective is to deliver the underpinning science and engineering to drive the uptake of next generation organic photovoltaics and perovskite photovoltaics (PV) into integrated applications of clear technological need.

Application Targeted And Integrated Photovoltaics (ATIP) - Swansea University

The successful candidate should hold a PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics or related discipline. Have a track record of expertise in Next Generation PV technologies. Excellent experimental skills and solid knowledge in the field of printed photovoltaics, preferably OPV photovoltaics. Have Practical experience in engineering, automation and data processing. Experience with performing and documenting scientific experiments and processing and analyzing data. They should provide evidence of active engagement, personal role, and contribution to writing and publishing research papers, particularly for refereed journals. They should demonstrate the capacity for active engagement in designing research and writing, or contributing to writing, applications for external research funding.
