Swansea University Cycles are getting ready to hit the road, once again offering an easy and affordable way to travel across the city.

Swansea University has teamed up with nextbike, powered by Tier, and Swansea Council, to introduce 100 brand new bikes over the coming weeks to Swansea’s bike hire network.

The bikes, featuring new University branding, boast improved locking systems and GPS tracking. They offer an upgrade on the initiative’s previous models and will provide a smooth and comfortable ride for new and returning riders.

The existing docking stations across the city will be back in action on Monday, September 16 after receiving a makeover with two new hubs at the Swansea Guildhall and Swansea Bus Station set to follow soon.

The bikes can be hired as before via by using the improved next bike uk app. And it remains a popular and cost-effective way to get across the city, with pay-as-you-go prices from 50p for 20 minutes for Swansea University students and staff. (see below for further pricing details)

The expansion of the network with more bikes and docking stations will not only improve connectivity for University staff and students but will also offer the wider local community more opportunities to make cycling their regular mode of travel, with the added benefits of keeping active, saving on travel costs, and being kind to the environment.
