The School of Management's Director of Enterprise and Innovation, Louisa Huxtable-Thomas, along with MSc Strategic Marketing placement student, Owen Davies, attended the Swansea Bay Business Club 70th anniversary celebration at the Brangwyn Hall in July.
The event was attended by 400 business leaders from the Swansea Bay region, including past presidents, Deputy Lord Mayor Cllr Mark Child, Judge John Collins and Opera Singer Wynne Evans. The School was invited to join the top table with Acting President, Alan Brayley (pictured) among other VIP guests. This was all in the run up to the School of Management becoming the season sponsor for the SBBC's events in 2020. Acting President, Alan Brayley, was keen to impress on the team that SBBC's members are keen to engage more closely with the School of Management, taking on placements or mentoring students, as well as letting the School know what they as employers need from graduates entering the job market.
Louisa said "We are already off to a great start! Taking along such a promising and talented placement student like Owen was the cherry on top of the cake. He is a wonderful ambassador for the School's placement programmes and reminded me again why students are at the heart of everything that we do. I'm determined that the School, whether through our research, teaching or engagement activities, will be of value to our community and membership like this help that to happen”.
