Why Swansea?
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Swansea University, as it has given me the opportunity to meet new people, find new hobbies, and find my passion for nuclear medicine.

I have also really enjoyed studying my course at Swansea, as the mixture of in-person lectures and hospital-based placement has been ideal, allowing me to use the theoretical knowledge I have learned in clinical practice, whilst simultaneously developing the skills required to be a clinical technologist in the NHS. I have found that the split between lectures and placement has motivated me throughout the course and allowed me to achieve my best. The clinical placements have also allowed me to network with people in the field and has resulted in me having a job in nuclear medicine at a cancer centre and having the opportunity to present my undergraduate dissertation at an All Wales Medical Physics Conference. The lecturers have also heavily contributed to my enjoyment of the course and brought out the best in me. They were always available for any questions that I had and made an effort to get to know each student individually.

There are not many universities that enable you to walk along the beach a few minutes after a lecture and offer as many opportunities as Swansea has. I am really pleased that I had chosen to come to Swansea University.

What are your favourite things about Swansea?
Paddleboarding at Oxwich Bay (30 minute drive from Singleton), Singleton Park, and the kind and friendly people.

Why did you choose to study your degree at Swansea?
It seemed like the best university for people who enjoy the outdoors, and I loved the idea of going for a stroll across the beach after a day of lectures.

What is your favourite thing about your course?
The clinical placements, as they allow me to feel a part of the team in various nuclear medicine departments across Wales and set me up with valuable skills and connections for when I graduate.

What are you planning/hoping to do after you graduate?
I hope to work for a Nuclear Medicine department in Wales as a Clinical Technologist, helping to diagnose and treat a variety of diseases including cancer.

Would you recommend Swansea University to other students?
Absolutely! Swansea University has offered me so many great opportunities that have helped me to meet like-minded people and have helped me to achieve my full potential.

Are you/have you been part of a society?
Whilst being a student in Swansea I have joined many societies, including the Raising and Giving Society, Live Music Society, and Mountaineering Society, which have allowed me to boost my confidence and meet like-minded people. Being a part of these societies has allowed me to take part in the challenge of a lifetime and has given me the confidence to equip me for the future. During my second year at Swansea, I became a challenge leader for a trek to Everest Base Camp whilst raising money for charity – this was an incredible experience that I would recommend to anyone. I have also taken part in many open-mic night events at the student’s union, beach BBQs, and trekked to Annapurna Base Camp with the university.

Have you lived in halls during your studies?
Living in student halls accommodation was a great way of immersing myself into university life. I was in a shared flat with people on similar courses to me, who were the same age which allowed me to make friends quickly.
