About The Role

As part of a team led by the Senior Technician, this role meets the needs and demands associated with providing a first-class technical resource to a range of activities and events hosted at the University’s cultural venues at Taliesin Arts Centre, The Great Hall and for on and off-campus projects.

The successful candidate will work as part of a team and will use your own initiative to meet strict deadlines in a busy and fulfilling working environment. You will work alongside colleagues and industry professionals to support the delivery of a full and varied programme of cultural and commercial activity.

The role will require installing and operating equipment associated with a modern arts venue and cinema, so requires the ability to perform regular manual handling.

Taliesin Arts Centre is celebrating its 40th anniversary from June 2024 – June 2025 and along with The Great Hall on Bay Campus, has established a reputation for hosting a rich and varied programme of performing arts (jazz and folk music, contemporary and world dance, drama) cinema and live broadcast. We have established ourselves as an essential part of Swansea Bay’s cultural landscape.

The successful candidate will be required to work evenings and weekends on a rota basis across both university campuses as well as at various site-specific locations throughout the region.

Welsh Language Skills

The Welsh language level required for this role is Level 1 - A little. The role holder will be able to pronounce Welsh words, answer the phone in Welsh (good morning/afternoon) and use very basic everyday words and phrases (thank you, please etc.). Level 1 can be reached by completing a 1 hour course.
